Advance Copies of the Lone Wolf Adventure Game

Cubicle Seven have received advance copies of the Lone Wolf Adventure Game (LWAG) at their office in Swindon, UK. These were specially flown to them ahead of the main shipments so that they can check that everything is OK. And it certainly is!

Jon Hodgson (Art Director) is so delighted with the finished product that he took these photos for you to see straight away. Jon has also confirmed that the shipment has begun its journey to C7 warehouses in the USA and UK.

LWAG will be launched officially at this year’s Gen Con (Indianapolis July 30 – August 3). I will be there to chat with fans and sign copies of the game. It’s not often I get a chance to visit the States these days, so this is a rare opportunity to come and say ‘Hi’. And if you bring your Lone Wolf books with you, I’ll be very happy to sign them.

If you can’t make it to Gen Con, you can pre-order Lone Wolf Adventure Game.

Slaughter Mountain Run published!

You are Cal Phoenix, the Freeway Warrior, champion and protector of Dallas Colony One. From the sanctuary of Big Spring your convoy of survivors begins the next stage of its life-or-death exodus: a journey to the fortified border town of El Paso, a destination that lies hundreds of miles beyond the sun-scorched wasteland of West Texas. In Slaughter Mountain Run, your mission is to rescue Kate Norton from the clutches of your arch enemy—the HAVOC leader Mad Dog Michigan. You have just seven days to free her and to rendezvous with the colony before it runs the gauntlet of fire that protects the only mountain road to El Paso.

Dreams of Darkness

FF14 Congratulations to our very own Simon Osborne who has recently had a Lone Wolf mini-adventure published in Issue 14 of Fighting Fantazine. I had the pleasure of reading it before it was published, and it’s 200 sections of Lone Wolf fun. I hope you enjoy!

The Story So Far…

You are Dorst, retainer and personal guard to Baroness Coryene of Gadorvo, a city in the Republic of Palmyrion. You have faithfully served the Baroness and her family for twenty-seven years, ever since you were given shelter at their chateau one cold, rainy night in the late autumn of the year MS 5050.…

Although you visit the shrines to the Goddess Ishir along with the Baroness, who has grown from a gawky tomboy to a beautiful noblewoman while in your charge, you have never before partaken in any form of prayer, devotion, or worship to the Moon Queen. Yet just these past few weeks, you have found yourself waking in the night, restless, troubled by dreams you cannot recall, save for a pair of glowing red eyes that glare at you malevolently from a face covered by a metal helm. Several times now you have beseeached Ishir for her protection, yet she does not listen, despite the Baroness’ assurance that Ishir will never turn away the prayers of anyone in need. Why would the kind Goddess abandon you after many years of faithful service to her worshippers?

And yet there is a reason, one that you cannot remember. For you are Dorst. But you are not Dorst.…

Lone Wolf Adventure Game Updates

LWAG cover £68k pledgedThe Lone Wolf Adventure Game Kickstarter was successfully funded to the tune of £68,000 back in September (€88,500 / $105,000) and attracted over 600 backers eager to support Cubicle 7 (C7) in producing a brand-new game set in the world of Magnamund. C7 wanted to give the supporters an extra reward, so, at the start of October, they invited them to join in the play-testing of a completed first draft of the game.

Well, over a month has now passed and dozens of play groups have taken their first steps into Magnamund as Initiates of the Kai Order. They’ve tested the rules for combat in daring battles against the Giaks, using their courage and their Kai Disciplines to protect the innocent from the minions of the Darklords. C7 had some really valuable feedback and have been thrilled at how much people have enjoyed our take on the game. Those of you who haven’t been able to take part in the play-test, don’t worry, be assured you’ll get your chance to play the game next year!

Beyond the rules material, I and the C7 team have been hard at work on the texts for the boxed set. We’re into the final stages of editing now. The C7 Art Department has been working hard devising a layout scheme which will really make The Lone Wolf Adventure Game a superb tool for teaching role-playing games to a new generation, whilst at the same time satisfying hardcore experienced gamers. It’s going to be really special. Art Director Jon Hodgson and Lead Artist Scott Purdy are well underway. Jon has sketched the iconic characters. They will be making appearances throughout the core set with words of advice and examples of how to play, led by their tutor Kai Master Silent Owl. Not only will they be your guides while you are learning the rules, they’ll also provide help in quickly finding whichever section you’re looking for when you reference the books during play.

Gary Chalk Kickstarter Campaign for Lone Wolf Board Game

lone-wolf-board-game

I just learned that Gary Chalk is doing a Kickstarter campaign to fund a Lone Wolf board game.

You are Lone Wolf, the last of the Kai Lords. Or perhaps you are Prince Pelathar, heir to the throne of Sommerlund. Or maybe you are the infamous Giak warrior Kootak, sent by the Darklords to raze the land. Now you can be all of these … in a hand-painted tabletop wargame.…

Battle for Magnamund is a fantasy wargame for two or more players. Each battle pits good against evil, and the core set sees the Human forces of Sommerlund in war against the Giaks, murderous grey-skinned humanoids bred in the infernal city of the Darklords. Players may control either an entire army or a single brigade on one side at a time. The goal is to allow you to re-create any battle or scenario from the classic Lone Wolf books, and the game comes with pre-made scenarios to start you on your way.

It reminds me of the Ragadorn Alehouse Brawl tabletop game from the Magnamund Companion but seems much more robust and complete. Gary Chalk did the lovely artwork, of course, and the campaign page has a short video interview of Gary, so check it out.

(There’s a longer interview of Gary available as well.)

Lone Wolf Act 4 – Dawn Over V’Taag

I’m very pleased and excited to announce that Act 4 (“Dawn Over V’Taag” ) of my Joe Dever’s Lone Wolf game will be released on November 20th for iOS and Android tablets and smart-phones. For the developers (Forge Reply) and myself, the release of this climactic final Act will be a great moment. It marks the culmination of three years intensely innovative and award-winning development work.

In Act 4, we’ve added several new aspects to the game-play and the art is nothing short of stunning. I’m particularly pleased with how my original story has been implemented and I’m sure you’ll appreciate the surprises that await you, especially in the final scenes.

And on November 27th, the entire 4-Act adventure will be available on Steam for Mac and PC. Now that’s what I call awesome!

Lone Wolf has had a great start to November with the successful launch of books 3 & 4 in the Italian Collector Series at the Lucca Comics & Games Show. Now it’s going to have a brilliant end to the month as well with the release of final Act 4, plus the entire four-Act adventure on Steam for Mac and PC.

My sincere thanks to all of you who have loyally supported this work. By doing so, you have ensured its success.
