Lone Wolf is up for an award and you can help it win!

The first German language edition of Lone Wolf 1 (i.e. the extended version) has been nominated for the German RPC Fantasy Award, the German equivalent of an Origins Award.

The award is determined by us, the fans. We can vote for the German edition of Lone Wolf 1, titled Einsamer Wolf 1—Flucht aus dem Dunkel.

The winner and runners-up will be announced at the Role-playing Convention in Cologne on Sunday, April 18th. Joe Dever will be attending the show as a guest of Manticor Books, the German publisher of the Lone Wolf collector editions, so let’s help Lone Wolf/Einsamer Wolf receive this award!

Annual Report 2009

In line with the previous two years, we at Project Aon have compiled an annual report, a brief retrospective of the work undertaken in the calendar year 2009. We also lay out a tentative roadmap for what we hope to achieve in 2010.

The file can be downloaded here.

Let’s hope that 2010 will be as productive as 2009 proved to be.

Mydnight’s Hero Published

The King of Siyen has been assassinated. Prince Karvas is the sole heir of this rich and powerful realm but he lives in exile in distant Sheasu—the Isle of Lost Heroes. In his absence, evil Baron Sadanzo and his army of robber-knights have staked their claim to the vacant throne.

In Mydnight’s Hero, your quest is to voyage to Sheasu and track down Prince Karvas in the fabled city of Mydnight. Once found you must persuade him to return with you to Siyen without delay. You have only 50 days in which to complete this challenging quest or Siyen will be enslaved by the tyrannical Sadanzo and his brutal followers.

We hope you enjoy our latest completed book. Only five more Lone Wolf books left!

My appetite for 29–32 is definitely whetted!

Update: Original video disappeared. Fixed.

Update 2: The entire interview has now been posted in four parts: part 1, part 2, part 3, and part 4.

Update 3: Please note the credits for this video:

Call of Nature

We get the text of the Lone Wolf books by scanning them and running the images through OCR software that converts the images to text files. The software isn’t perfect. Part of the reason it takes us so blasted long to publish the books is the effort required to pick up after the OCR program.

Sometimes these scanning errors are amusing. This time, LeRoy McSwain caught one that makes perfect sense, and we wanted to share this with you. Can you spot what’s wrong?

You spur your horse to the gallop and steer him towards the palisade. The guards see you bearing down and one of them panics and pees.(Mydnight’s Hero, Section 189)

We toyed briefly with the idea of pretending we never found it and leaving it in the book, but good sense (regrettably) prevailed.

Treat from Nate Furman

Nate Furman sent us a special treat. He says this sampler is what clinched the deal for him to illustrate The Plague Lords of Ruel for Mongoose. He wanted everyone to be able to enjoy it. (It won’t be published with the Lone Wolf books because it has nothing to do with LW.)

The Buccaneers of Shadaki!

The legendary Moonstone was created by the god-like Shianti, whose presence upon Magnamund heralded the dawn of Humanity. It contains the might of all the Shianti’s magic and wisdom – the sum of their divine knowledge. Lone Wolf, Supreme Master of the Kai, has successfully retrieved the Moonstone following its theft by the forces of darkness, and now this magical artefact must be returned quickly to its creators before its immense powers disrupt the delicate balance of nature. He has entrusted the precious Moonstone to you – the most promising warrior in the ranks of the New Order Kai.

In The Buccaneers of Shadaki, your quest is to deliver this stone of power to the Shianti who are exiled upon the mystical Isle of Lorn. Will your vital quest succeed, or will you fall foul of the pirates and perils that infest the southern seas of Magnamund?

When I acquired my copy of this rare tome, it was fetching insane sums on auction sites. (Actually, I bought someone’s entire Lone Wolf collection to get my hands on this one book!) Checking again just now confirmed that nothing much has changed.

We at Project Aon are doing our best to bail out our fellow fans in these trying times. Now, if you can do without the aroma of paper and ink (or just can’t wait for Mongoose to republish it), you don’t need to break your budget in order to read the 22nd installment in the series.
