Improved Statskeeper

Latest version: Statskeeper (WIP)

Thanks to inputs from Veer, a Project Aon fan who contacted us via the forum, the venerable Statskeeper has been brought into the modern age! It now supports all the Lone Wolf series, including the New Order series of adventures as well. This is a work in progress and feedback is definitely desired. Grey Star and Freeway Warrior are to be added in due time. Be aware that there are a number of caveats, and Statskeeper will work differently in different browsers if launched from your own computer.

List of Bugs

  • Firefox: The following setting in about:config needs to be set to FALSE for the frames to work properly: security.fileuri.strict_origin_policy
To do this, type 'about:config' in the address bar of a Firefox window. Search for this policy in the search box at the top of the screen, then set it to FALSE.
Note: we are unsure what security issues this might open, but it will not change your online browsing experience. This setting only affects the way Firefox secures files stored and opened from on your computer. (Please Note: This issue is also present in the original Statskeeper.)
  • Opera (and Chrome/Chromium?): Save and Load Game features will not work when opening the files from your computer as these browsers don't allow cookies to be stored this way. Running Statskeeper via a simple web server will resolve this issue.
Here are some very light options you might want to try out:
For Windows:
Mongoose server (Free): You don't need the Pro version to use Statskeeper.
Tiny Web Server (Free): Install and launch the app, click Configure Server and set the home directory to wherever your Lone Wolf package is stored, click Start Server and you are ready to play. In this example, the books are stored in C:\Books\Joe Dever. If that is what you set as the home directory for the server, you can launch Statskeeper from http://localhost/statskeeper/index.htm in your browser.
For Android:
PAW Server for Android: Get it from Google Play or Fun2Code.
Once you install the app, you will find a directory named 'paw' in /sdcard/ (or your phone/tablet's home folder). Simply move your Lone Wolf package to /sdcard/paw/html, run the app, click the Play button and you are ready to start playing.
In this example, PAW Server is set to serve files on port 8080 (the default) and the Lone Wolf package is stored in /sdcard/paw/html/JoeDever. With these settings, you would launch Statskeeper from http://localhost:8080/JoeDever/statskeeper/index.htm in your browser.
For iOS:
As far as we know, web servers can't be run on regular iOS devices. It needs a jailbroken device, which is not recommended. If anyone can suggest ready-to-use-software for iOS, please post the options on the forum.
