Cerulean / Permission Messages

It will come as no great surprise I guess to hear that Red Fox is no longer my publisher.... Regarding Lone Wolf, all rights to books 1-20 (not illustrations) have now reverted to me....
As an alternative way of getting LW back into print, may I suggest the following proposal for your consideration:
What if the text to the first 20 Lone Wolf books (plus Magnamund Companion & Freeway Warrior 1-4) were transcribed or converted in an appropriate way for use on the net...?
Kind regards
Joe Dever (email) 2 Dec 1999
I would be especially pleased if my granting of the rights to distribute my books in this way was seen as my 'millennium gift' to all those devoted readers who have kept the Kai flag flying high, through all the good times, and the not-so-good. It would make me very proud indeed if this enterprise laid the foundations of a lasting legacy, securing the longevity of Lone Wolf by making my creation freely and readily accessible to current and future online generations. For them, for us, for Sommerlund and the Kai....
Joe Dever (email) 3 Dec 1999

With these words, Joe Dever put a grand plan in motion, granting Project Aon the rights to post the text for all his Lone Wolf books. But as the project has grown, other skilled and generous people have also given permission for us to use material they created for the world of Magnamund. For posterity, their words are recorded here:

"Hi . . . This was many years ago! I have no problem with you using them in the fashion stated. I have no idea where the other illustrators are.
good luck"

"I know about Project Aon, I look in now and again. . . .
You are welcome to use the pictures on my site but I will try and find some more or take some pictures of my originals, which I still have. . . .
I hope this helps and thanks for the interest. If you want me to take some photo's of my originals for you just ask - it would be a pleasure to contribute."

"Hi . . . I have no problem with you using my old work. I am curious however, where you get the copies from. They are not originals are they?"

I'm sorry that I didn't reply to your email more speedily, but better late than never.
A curious thing has happened. You wrote to me over a year ago and before I could reply, I lost the letter. This missing letter has just turned up, mixed in a pile of old bills. It only came to light as I searched for something for my accountant. Hard on the heels of this came your email. Fate is obviously knocking on my door.
Please take this email as confirmation that you can use any or all of my Lone Wolf illustrations online. I am happy that they are still so popular.
If you have any ideas for further Lonewolfery I will be pleased to hear about them and contribute if I can....

"Linden Artists have passed your enquiry regarding Richard's artwork in The Magnamund Companion on to us.
Richard is happy for you to incorporate his original illustrations into the Project Aon edition for distribution free-of-charge. I'm afraid we don't have any information about Jane Laycock.
Thank you for taking the trouble to track Richard down,
Best wishes,
Hilary (Hook)"

"That is fine and acceptable to me - primarily, you can display the calendar work just as long as it in no way appears as, or could be construed as, or more importantly downloaded and reproduced as posters, prints, fine art prints or any commercial item that would be solely without type. As long as the images are overlaid in some way with some sort of type that interrupts potential piracy use then I have no objection to you displaying the material in the way you describe and I am more than happy to assist you with the project in this way. Indeed, I am flattered that the work still has that much interest and would continue to be a source of enjoyment for others and very happy to join Joe Dever in adding to the project in this spirit."

"Thanks very much for your recent communication...
I would be happy for you to use versions of my images as part of the project. Although you also contacted me by surface mail I trust that giving my permission via this email will be sufficient - let me know if you feel you might need a more formal written agreement."

"Greetings,
You are welcome to use my Tales of Shianti Wizard, Grey Star on your site. Very happy to hear that he is still remembered.
I'm not sure how large your web-site audience is - so this may be a frivolous suggestion but I do have other tales of Grey Star, and the Shianti, indeed - of other worlds and heroes locked away in various trunks and chests, here in London. They are plain stories and tales of other worlds, other times, other peoples, and have not been converted to the adventure book game format. Would you be interested in these?
Kindest Regards,"

"I am indeed the Peter Parr you are looking for!
Your project sounds great fun, if fact my Animation students recently uncovered this part of my past with enthusiasm only know but avid fans of Combat Heroes. Many of them now move into computer games with their animation skills. Combat Heroes were the precursors of these games!
Good Luck with your project and give my very best wishes to Joe if you are in touch with him."

"Many thanks for your letter of 13th January '05 concerning the 'Magnamund Companion'.
Yes, it's perfectly fine for you to use my illustrations in any way you wish.
Unfortunately I cannot find a copy of this work at the moment - but I remember working with Gary and Joe.
If you have a spare copy in the future I would appreciate one for my files.
Many thanks.
Yours sincerely,
Graham Round"

Sorry for the delay in answering your letter....
I have consulted with Grand Master D., about your enterprise, and as he is all for it what can I do but say yea! So I give you leave to use my illustrations for the purpose stated in your letter. And in furtherance of your undertaking I enclose a copy of all the internal illustrations I produced for the British edition of the Lone Wolf series (including the map for LW28)....
With best wishes
