[jb: fix it]
(er)6:[tp: In 04tcod, section 191, you come down a side track to the main highway and find a burnt-out wagon. The scene is described as if seeing it for the first time. However, to reach this section, you must pass through one of sections 21, 74, 82, 251, or 330, and only via section 21 do you not ride down the highway and find the wagon before ever seeing the side track!
Is this just something that the reader will have to live with, or can we think of some subtle rewording that makes it less inconsistent, but doesn't step over the line into rewriting?
For reference, the exact wordings are:
74: "After travelling some distance, you come across the wreck of a burnt-out wagon abandoned at the side of the road. Behind it, a track disappears eastwards up into the hills."
82: "You have ridden less than a mile when you discover a burnt-out wagon abandoned at the side of the road. Behind it, a hill track disappears eastwards."
251: "Within an hour, you arrive at a junction where a track from the east meets the main highway. Abandoned at the side of the road is a burnt-out wagon."
330: "After a few minutes ride, you find the wreck of a burnt-out wagon abandoned at the side of the road. Behind it, a track disappears eastwards into the hills."
191: "You soon reach a junction where the track meets the main highway. Abandoned at the side of the road is a burnt-out wagon."]
[jb: I'm drawing a blank on a subtle change here. We could footnote it, but then we'd just be stating the obvious that the reader has probably already been at this junction. Section 6 is even worse. It can only be reached after you call off the search of the forest track, so a reader must have already seen the junction and the wagon. I suggest the following change there: "You soon reach a junction where the track meets the main highway. Abandoned at the side of the road is a burnt-out wagon. -> You soon reach the junction where the track meets the main highway and the burnt-out wagon lies abandoned at the side of the road."]

(er)32:this discovery comes as cold comfort now your brave company is no more. -> ...as now your brave company... [LeRoy McSwain, Jan 2007]
[jb: Is this really errata? Just want to make sure.]
[jb: I sympathize with those who would like to preserve the original language as much as possible, but this simply did not scan right, to my ear in any case. Fixed with "now that your brave company".]
(er)32:the east tunnel -> the west tunnel (cf. Section 101) [TW]
(er)36, 44, 193, 245, 260, 320:despatch -> dispatch [ik: PAMoS]

(er)100:a procession of red-cloaked priests enter -> a procession of red-cloaked priests enters
(er)106:many hundred of miles -> many hundreds of miles
(er)117, 315, 322:Torch -> torch [so: since the lit torch does not count towards the Backpack Items limit.]
(er)123:you will need to use at least one Torch to light your way -> you will need to bring the Tinderbox and at least one Torch to light your way [DED: perhaps the text "you will need to use at least one Torch to light your way" should be amended to "you will need to bring the Tinderbox and at least one Torch to light your way"? And the footnote should be "For the sake of continuity with subsequent sections, you are assumed to take a Torch and Tinderbox into the mine here, even if you are carrying an alternate means of providing illumination. Your first (lit) Torch is a Special Item carried in the hand. Record the Tinderbox, and any additional Torches as Backpack Items."?]
[ded:"The mines are dark and you will need to use at least one Torch to light your way. You can take as many as you wish but remember each Torch counts as one Backpack Item" -> "The mines are dark and you will need to use at least one torch [sic] to light your way. You can take as many additional Torches as you wish, but remember each one counts as Backpack Item"]
[jb: Replace the existing footnote with: "Unless you already possess an alternative means of relighting the torch later (e.g. another Tinderbox or a Kalte Firesphere), record this Tinderbox on your Action Chart as a Backpack Item. It is not necessary to record the one lit torch on your Action Chart."]

Fixed (Not Errata)
(ne)The Story So Far:officer, Captain D'Val was -> officer, Captain D'Val, was
(ft)12:You may take as many of these items as you wish. [Dewi Morgan, August 2008: Calling it a "choice of equipment" might be misleading; it sounds as though you can only take 1 item.]
(ft)12:[jc: If you lose your Backpack in sections 94 or 158, and fail to found a new one (section 167, or later in section 2), maybe captain D'Val should offer you a new Backpack here (the same as is footnoted in book 2, section 31).]
[tp, jb: Agreed.]
(ne)75:192 -> 192.
(ne)79:[jb: "Unless you already possess an alternative means of relighting the torch later (e.g. another Tinderbox or a Kalte Firesphere), record this Tinderbox on your Action Chart as a Backpack Item. It is not necessary to record the one lit torch on your Action Chart."]
(ne)142:A pall of drizzle hangs over the ghost city and the gruesome discord of the walling winds of Maakengorge make you feel uneasy. -> wailing winds [db: The Chasm of Doom Page 142, second sentence. The word "wailing" is misspelled as "walling." (reported by Dan Boulton Sep 27 '06)]
(ne)193:you, move -> you move [LeRoy McSwain, Jan 2007]
(ne)241:Remove superfluous footnote now the 241 fix above has been implemented.
(ne)268:Enough for 2 Meals -> Enough food for 2 Meals [As reported by Kayvohn]
[jb: fix it]
(ft)322:[DED: There's a problem with torches here. The text says "Extinguishing your Torch, you curl up on the floor and quickly fall into a deep sleep. Many hours pass before you awake, totally refreshed by your rest...
...Relighting your torch, you can now see that..."

Realistically, you can't relight your torch unless you also have a tinderbox. And the problem here is that the gameplay doesn't allow you to continue in the dark.

I'd suggest this requires an amendment to the footnote we added to sect. 123 -]
[so: Not footnoted. Fixed potential inconsistency by changes made to text and footnote in Section 123.]
(ne)349:out of west -> out of the west [LeRoy McSwain, Jan 2007]
(ne)footnotz:Firespere -> Firesphere

Rejected
(er)34:The creature is flooded with golden light -> The chamber is flooded with golden light
[so: Might as well get this resolved ASAP. If we do change this, also change "its" to "the creature's" in the subsequent sentence.]
[jb: Interesting. It does seem a little odd though I don't think it is strictly incorrect. Dictionary.com lists one meaning of "flood" as "to overwhelm with an abundance of something". I'd leave it as-is.]
(er)44:amulets -> Amulets [Dewi Morgan, August 2008]
[SO: Actually, the amulets are never referenced and probably are not supposed to be gettable. We've reordered the sentences to reflect this.]
(er)44:amulet -> Amulet [Dewi Morgan, August 2008: This item is gettable.]
(ft)90:[RM: If you come to this section from 333 -> 220 -> 90 then the horseman may already be injured from the first round where you knock him off. Should a note be added to continue his endurance from that value?]
[jb: It seems a bit difficult to justify doing this since his stats have changed since 333.]
(er)114, 195, 239, 266, 324:tavern-keeper -> tavernkeeper [195: x3] [324: x2]
[jb: all instances in the books are spelled "tavern-keeper" and I don't see a reason to hold "tavernkeeper" as more correct.]
(er)179:shock wave -> shockwave
[jb: "Shockwave" is the software by Macromedia; "shock wave" is the physical phenomenon that this section intends.]
(ft)268:[Status of the Keys as Special Items or Backpack Items; as reported by Kayvohn]
[jb: Keys vary on how they are treated throughout the books. They are both Backpack and Special Items. Without authoritative information, we must assume that they are Backpack Items, as per the rules.]
(er)288:earthfall -> earth fall
(ft)333:[Tell the Player to note down how much damage they have inflicted upon the Horseman; as per Kayvohn's report] [DD, IK, TW disagree]
[jb: Also disagree.]
