The Public Preview release of Flight
from the Dark is finally ready. Now
that we have a fairly stable format,
expect the other books to come even
faster...

http://www.bigfoot.com/~TheAonProject/

You can also now download StatsKeeper
and the website has a revamped
look. Major Project Aon announcements
(e.g. new books available) will be
made on Kaiwisdom but if you want to
be informed of some of the smaller
updates (e.g. revisions of previously
released books) as well, consider
signing up for the Project Aon
announcement list on the website.

You might be asking yourself "why
only a preview release?" This just
means that we don't have all of the
illustrations ready. When we have
illustrations, it will be released as
a full product.

We've just released the public
preview of Fire on the Water. In case you
weren't here for the release of
Flight from the Dark, we're calling it a
public preview because it doesn't
have the illustrations. Aside from
that it has all of its other
features. Check it out at:

http://www.crosswinds.net/~projectaon/view.htm

or download it from:

http://www.crosswinds.net/~projectaon/download.htm

If you download it, make sure to also
grab the updated versions of the

find any errors, please contact us
so that we can fix them. We try hard
to make it error free but no one's
perfect. :)

Enjoy!

The Aon Project has recently secured
a domain name: projectaon.org. I'm
just making this announcement so that
everyone can update there links
and edit their bookmarks/favorites.
There are now two URLs (addresses)
that will always get you to the
Project Aon website:

http://www.projectaon.org/
http://www.bigfoot.com/~TheAonProject/

The first URL is preferred but the
second will also work (it's just not
as pretty and it's harder to
remember). I don't suggest linking to
or
bookmarking the crosswinds.net URL;
if we ever change web hosting
services, the crosswinds.net URL will
no longer work while both of the
others will continue to get you where
you want to go.

We had hoped we would never have to
do this but...

It seems that for various reasons a
couple of files weren't included in
our distribution of The Caverns of
Kalte. We've fixed the problem and
made a second release. If you've
already downloaded the May 30 release,
you can update it to the June 2
release by downloading and decompressing
one of the following patch files just
like any other Project Aon
package:

http://www.crosswinds.net/~projectaon/tcok/tcokptch.zip
http://www.crosswinds.net/~projectaon/tcok/tcokptch.tar.gz

We apologize for the inconvenience
and promise to redouble our
vigilance.

Subject: SMR high res images

As a break, I scanned in the images
that Brian Williams sent from
Slaughter Mountain Run. You can
download the 3.5MB file from:

http://www.egroups.com/files/projectaon/smr/smr-img-high-res.zip

All of the images were scanned in at
300dpi. This means that they are
_large_ and jagged on screen. If you
print them, however, they look great.
I think most printers default to
300dpi, but if yours doesn't, there's
usually a way to either change the
dpi setting directly or use a scale
factor (e.g. 50% on a 600dpi
printer). Printing at the correct
resolution
will result in a full-sized image
that's larger than the published
version. The numbered illustrations
are about 4.5in x 7in (11.5cm x
18.8cm).

The versions used in the internet
editions will have about 1/4 of the
width and height of these images.
Consider this a sneak peek. :)

Ian Page has finally responded to my
message!! The e-mail was sent
recently
to the projectaon staff address (no,
we will not tell you the sender's
address). But just wait 'till you hear what he said...

<< Greetings,

You are welcome to use my Tales of Shianti Wizard, Grey Star on your
site. Very happy to hear that he is still remembered.

I'm not sure how large your web-site audience is - so this may be a
frivolous suggestion but I do have other tales of Grey Star, and the
Shianti, indeed - of other worlds and heroes locked away in various
trunks and chests, here in London. They are plain stories and tales of
other worlds, other times, other peoples, and have not been converted
to the adventure book game format. Would you be interested in these?

Kindest Regards,
Ian Page >>

You heard it folks. We now have permission to publish the text of the four
World of Lone Wolf (Grey Star) books PLUS whatever apocryphal unpublished
works Ian Page sends us! Jon has already answered the e-mail, stating that
such works would indeed be most appreciated, but note that it may take a
while for Ian Page to send these other works. Also note that we do not have
illustration privaleges (those were done by Paul Bonner and are copyrighted
under Century Hutchinson). But hey, if things keep going this way, maybe we
can get Chalk and Bonner on board too... And even if not, we gotta admit,
we're doin' pretty good!

A discussion will surely shortly follow on projectaon's main list regarding
when and how we will be posting the Grey Star series on the Sanctum, as we
also have yet to post the LW Grand Master series (with the exception of Dawn
of the Dragons). Hehe, maybe this'll put a halt to that OT rant on KaiWisdom
(please, if this doesn't, what will?)...

Jubilantly,
Mike

P.S. Thanks again to Jon and Matt for letting me have the spill the beans
privaleges!
